Northern Lakes Church declares that the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God, existing eternally. Everything was created by Him and for Him. We believe that Jesus died a substitutionary (in our place) death to atone for sin. Salvation is offered to all, but only those who accept it by faith experience genuine change (regeneration) through the baptism by the Holy Spirit. They become God's children, receive a new nature, and join the universal body of Christ.
We believe Jesus physically rose on the third day and was seen by hundreds of people in a 40-day period before He ascended into heaven, where He remains fully God and fully man, and is presently ministering through His Holy Spirit until He comes again. (John 1:1-3, John 8:58, Titus 2:13, Romans 11:36, Colossians 1:16, John 1:14, Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 1:29-35, Luke 2:52, John 19:28, Philippians 2:6-8, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22, Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24-25, Luke 24:36-43, Romans 1:4, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Acts 1:9, Hebrews 4:14, Ephesians 1:19-23, Hebrews 4:15-16, Acts 1:11),.
We believe that there is only one living and true God, who exists in three distinct persons—God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three, the Trinity, are equal in essence and distinct in function (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). The Holy Spirit is eternally God, actively involved in Creation and the inspiration of Scripture. His roles in conviction for change are vital for salvation, and believers are empowered by being filled with the Spirit in their Christian life for service. (Acts 5:3-4, John 16:7-15, Genesis 1:2, 2 Peter 1:21, John 16:8- 11, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 5:18, Galatians 5:16, Galatians 5:22-23, Ephesians 3:16-21, Acts 1:8) 4.
We were created in the image of the Lord God, destined to enjoy an intimate relationship with Him, fulfilling his will here on earth. But because of Adam and Eve's willful sin in the garden, sin entered into the world, and all human beings inherit a sinful nature, and we are all separated from God because of our sinfulness. Without Jesus Christ, we are all spiritually dead and destined for physical death and an eternity removed from God (Genesis 1–3; Romans 1:18–32; Romans 3; Romans 5; Ephesians 2:1–3).
At Northern Lakes Church, we believe in the inerrancy (without error) of the Bible. Including both the Old and New Testaments, they are divinely inspired. The sixty-six books, and only these, known as the Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God. God’s inspiration of the writing of every word to the original authors of the Bible guarantees that what was written is authoritative, true, and without error in the original manuscripts. God preserves His Word, which is powerful and effective to accomplish His purpose.
The believer is saved by faith alone. The faith that saves is expected to produce obedience and good works, which are the products of the indwelling Holy Spirit. According to scripture the process of sanctification) being made holy is ongoing for each believer, with the intended outcome the development of Christlike qualities. (Romans 4:5, Romans 1:5, James 2:14-17, Titus 3:8, Galatians 5:22-23, Matthew 22:37-40, Colossians 3:17, Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:12-13, Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18)
The church is independent, non-denominational, and autonomous and is free from all ecclesiastical or political interference. Northern Lakes Church is a body of believers seeking to bring glory to God. The church consists of individuals who engage in worship and fellowship together. We are flawed people being transformed by a perfect God.
